Tour of Kevin Chen in Europe
Canadian pianist Kevin Chen embarked upon a European tour in 2026, which saw the acclaimed young musician appear in two major cultural centres, bringing his music to distinguished concert halls in the music capitals of Düsseldorf and Madrid across the months of April and May.
Performing alongside leading orchestras and conductors, Chen’s appearances offered audiences the opportunity to experience his expressive depth and technical command within the grandeur of the symphonic concert setting.
The tour opened on the 8th of April at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, one of Germany’s most celebrated concert venues. For this performance, Chen appeared as soloist with the Essener Philharmoniker, under the baton of Andrea Sanguineti, presenting an eclectic programme that offered Chen a wide expressive canvas, allowing him to explore both intimacy and more dazzling, intricate passages.
Nearly one month later, Chen continued his European journey with a performance in Spain, appearing on the 1st of May at the Teatro Monumental de Madrid. This second engagement saw him collaborate with the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada and conductor Lucas Macías Navarro. Presented in one of Madrid’s prominent musical venues, the concert marked another important stop in Chen’s tour, bringing the same concerto into a new orchestral and cultural setting.
For Chen, these appearances formed part of a significant European chapter in his growing international career. His performances in Düsseldorf and Madrid highlighted not only his qualities as a soloist, but also his ability to enter into meaningful artistic collaboration with orchestras and conductors across different traditions, shaping a tour that affirmed his place among the most compelling pianists of his generation.
